About Me

My name is Dana and I am in my first year of the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program at Yukon College.

My family moved to the Yukon when I was six years old and I grew up in Faro, a small town with a population of about 400 people in the traditional territory of the Ross River Dena and Kaska Dena Councils.

I have two sisters and three brothers.

When I was sixteen I moved to Australia as an exchange student. I met some of my closest friends, gained a second family, visited beautiful places, and even held a snake.

I spent the last two winters volunteering as an English teacher at a bilingual school in Honduras. My students changed my life and are the reason I am now in this program.

During the summers I work as a lifeguard and swim instructor.

I hope to be a great teacher someday.
